About
Hofmeyr was established in 1873 under the name Maraisburg and renamed in 1911 in honour of Jan Hendrik Hofmeyr (Onze Jan). Its heritage includes a historic church and town hall. The discovery of the ancient Hofmeyr Skull near the town is also part of the area's much longer human history.
