About
Farmers along the Groot River needed a parish of their own. The church bought the government farm in 1875. The congregation was established on 10 June 1876, and the town took the name Steytlerville. It stands where the Groot River leaves the Grootrivierberge.
Town history is an evolving local record. Additional archival sources, community accounts and photographs can help improve this article.
