About
Helen Martins was born in Nieu-Bethesda in 1897. From the 1940s until her death in 1976 she covered the house in crushed glass and mirrors and filled the garden, the Camel Yard, with cement figures. Koos Malgas worked with her on those sculptures. The Owl House is kept as a museum.
Town history is an evolving local record. Additional archival sources, community accounts and photographs can help improve this article.
