About

The Old Residency stands opposite Reinet House. Its land was granted in 1801 and the present dwelling was probably built during the ownership of Johannes Gerber before 1831. The South African government acquired it in 1916 for use as the magistrate's residence. It was declared a National Monument in 1962 and later incorporated into the museum complex.
