About
The Presbytery of Graaff-Reinet, sitting at Cradock, formally separated the congregation. Jan Vorster’s farm Brakkefontein was chosen and bought for £4,875. Ds. Andrew Murray Sr. was named consultant. The locality was renamed Aberdeen after Murray’s birthplace in Scotland. Murraysburg was named for him the following year.
