The Aberdeen war-history page dates Commandant Gideon Scheepers’ attack on the town to 5 March 1901, with British and local colonial defenders. The next day fighting moved north near the Zeekoe River, where British mounted troops took casualties. Further district fighting is recorded for 6 April 1901. On 6 July 1901 Scheepers’ commando burned buildings at Aberdeen Road Station. One line on the same page says only “July 1901”; the dated line is 6 July.
